13–The Academy publicly released its code of conduct in 2017,

15–upholding the academy’s values of respect for human dignity,
16–inclusion and a supportive environment that fosters creativity, in line with their guidelines.
17–The Academy, had announced on Friday that
18–Will Smith has been banned from attending all academy events,
19–including the academy awards, for the next ten years.
20–Academy President David Reuben, and CEO Don Hudson
21–wrote an open letter addressed to the academy family, saying,
22–the 94th Oscars were meant to be a celebration of the many individuals in our community
23–who did incredible work this past year.
24–However, those moments were overshadowed by the unacceptable and harmful behavior
25–we saw Mr Smith exhibit on stage during our telecast.
26–We did not adequately address the situation in the room.
27–For this, we are sorry.
28–There was an opportunity for us to set an example for our guests, viewers
29–and our academy family around the world,
30–and we fell short unprepared for the unprecedented.
31–Today, the Board of Governors convened a meeting
32–to discuss how best to respond to Will Smith actions at the Oscars.
33–In addition to accepting his resignation, the board has decided, for a period of ten years,
34–from april 2022, Mr.Smith shall not be permitted to attend any academy events
35–or programs in person or virtually, including but not limited to the Academy awards.
36–We want to express our deep gratitude to Mr.Rock
37–for maintaining his composure under extraordinary circumstances.
38–We also want to thank our hosts, nominees, presenters
39–and winners for their poise and grace during our telecast.
40–This action we are taking today in response to Will smith’s behavior
41–is a step toward a larger goal of protecting the safety of her performers and guests
42–and restoring trust in the academy.
43–We also hope this can begin a time of healing and restoration for all involved and impacted.
44–And how did will Smith react to this?
45–Smith made a short response, saying, I accept and respect the Academys decision,
46–and did not offer any further comment.
47–However, it seems he saw it coming and opted to resign before the Academy kicked him out.
48–Smith resigned from the Academy on april 1,
49–saying he was heart broken in a statement announcing his decision.
50–My actions at the 94 Academy Awards presentation were shocking, painful and inexcusful.

52–and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones,

61–The Academy had previously announced it was issuing a formal review of smith’s actions,
62–and were set to vote on disciplinary action april 18.
63–Ruben accepted his resignation on behalf of the organization.
64–Smith’s resignation made the Academy move up its vote to april 8.
65–As for the fans, smith’s tenure penalty has received mixed reactions from all over social media.

89–However, chris rock’s family believes that Will Smith deserves the punishment that he’s getting.

91–through an Instagram post on Monday afternoon.

113–he commented that his brother was no threat to Smith,

Chris overstepped, and Will is a person just as much as us: he has feelings, he can be stressed, he can overreact and he can make mistakes. We all do. Will has already apologised for his action, and I am a 100% certain Will really regrets what happened. Now we should leave what has happened in the past, and not insert ourselves in other peoples business.

I can only imagine the emotional trauma of being physically assaulted, publicly, while millions of people watch.

The moment of Chris Rock’s reaction was the moment he outclassed the entire film industry. The joke will be forgotten. The name of the movie will be forgotten. Chris Rock took an intense moment and turned it into comedy while still maintaining a lot of professionalism and moving on from it.  Mr. Rock’s composure and grace under pressure will be remembered. Chris managed the whole situation with such a dignity, profesionality and class, admiring him for that!
